Meet Mia

Hey! I’m so happy that you’re here.

Sipping my cool drink and waving to a passerby on a beautiful Wednesday afternoon with my dear friend.
– Cheung Chau Island Beach, Hong Kong

I started as a 16 year old girl who dreamed of modeling. When I was 17 I packed my bags, headed to Asia and made that dream come true. I booked promotional and editorial jobs in Hong Kong and was making $100 + an hour.  Now I’m addicted to making my dreams and the dreams of others come true.

Reality check: It’s not all perfect. Before I tell you the rest of my story, I must say, there was a point when I was 17 when I was feeling hopeless. Yep. 17 years old, a beautiful young woman feeling hopeless. So what made me get up, get my butt to Asia and make modeling a reality for me? Taking action! Throwing away the excuses and taking massive, determined, focused action.

OK, now that you know that I had to get through a lot of fear and obstacles and still to this day have to get through fears in the midst of achieving my dreams, here is the rest of my story on how I got started doing what I’m doing…

I founded Mia Salituro Business Communications after experiencing first hand what an enormous impact the way that I communicate has on my life.

I have a vivid memory of first meeting Ogilvy, international advertising and public relations firm, in Hong Kong. I attended a promotional casting / interview at Ogilvy. A few days following my interview with the Ogilvy representative, my fellow model whom also interviewed for the  promotional position told me that the interviewer shared with her how impressed he was with me.

Naturally I began to wonder what impressed this representative so much ? What could I have said or done to make him feel the urge to share my story with another interviewee ?

Answer : Communication

It was the way that I communicated with the representative that left him with a positive, lasting impression.

Improving the communication skills of ambitious professionals and entrepreneurs is my passion. I especially love :

  • preparing you to land your dream job
  • preparing you to pitch your product / service
What I love MOST is:
  • getting you past your fear, so that you can finally create what you want to create in this world.

You can make your dreams come true by changing the way you communicate with yourself and others.

I  love helping entrepreneurs and professionals achieve their dreams, join them! I’d love to hear from you.

– Send me an email to request a get acquainted call. During our call we will get to know each other. I will learn about your situation, where you are today and where you want to be, so we can see if you’re a good match for my programs.

  2. Your story is inspiring, and clearly you demonstrate your ability to communicate effectively in this post. I am curious to know what has influenced your communication style, and how you have learned to communicate so effectively.

I have personally seen that some people simply have more empathy than others, which I think is an essential component to effective communication. If I can not put myself in someone else’s shoes, I have no hope of reaching them, understanding them, or getting on the same level with them to then understand each other.

However, I believe empathy can grow in a person, can be taught, and is something that we must continually nurture in ourselves, and bring out in others. As we give the gift of truly understanding other people around us, they become empowered to have empathy for us, and possibly for other people.

Did not mean to preach to the choir, just wanted to share with you a bit of my perspective, and show I am interested in yours. Thanks for sharing your story with us!

    • Hey Chris, I agree being able to understand people and love them helps you communicate in a more authentic, attractive way. Another thing is being able to communicate with someone where they are right now. Being able to connect with them and speak the words that their own hearts are speaking, will allow them to trust you and believe that you truly do understand them.

No one wants to work with someone who doesn’t understand them. Understanding people and really wanting what’s best for them is a big key in communicating powerfully.

      Thanks for the comment Chris!

  3. And again, you prove your great communication skills by following up!

Best of luck as you move to the new website. I have not found a home online, and continue to jump around with which social media platform I think of as home. Please feel free to reach out if you ever want to brainstorm social media communication. I think you are an “old soul” that has a deep intuitive sense of how to connect with other people (at least in written form, from what I have seen). As iron sharpens iron, I love connecting with people that understand interpersonal dynamics, and learning from them.

    Cheers!
